INSPIRATION

At first glance Inspiration can be weird and surprising but when you look deeper into it  there is amazing beauty.

In this piece there are lots of layers to unravel. We first see a glass chalice that is casting water ripples. Inside the cup is Mizu an original character of mine. I hope to include her in more future works. She is half submerged in the drink and holding a sculpture of the very piece she is a part of. The tentacles hanging over the edge represent the weirdness or bizarreness of the first strike of inspiration. Sometimes it hits you and it doesn’t make any sense but when you flush the concept out it works beautifully, represented by the flower and Mizu’s flowing tail.

When I was first inspired to draw this piece I was very concerned and confused. Frankly, it’s a bit insane. But I love the craziness of it and the bizarreness of a mermaid crafting a sculpture of herself while floating in a cocktail. I know I am portraying inspiration in a fresh and creative way that only I would dream up.
