PIERCED represents the pain that is brought by being in love. It is meant to be open to interpretation and relatable to the viewer. The illustration should represent to the viewer whatever pain they are feeling. It could be the pain of heartbreak, or falling in love with someone unattainable or even the pain of not feeling like you are good enough for your partner. I created this piece to express these pains but also to show others that they are not alone. That others do understand their pain and there is a light at the end of the tunnel, even though it may still be a ways off.
