Time
TIME was inspired by the concept of being in love and feeling like you’re running out of time. Every aspect of this piece is an analogy from the times on the clock to it‘s own twisted shadow. The rocks represent uncertainty and building emotions. The Cupid is looking down in concern hoping for action. The shadow shows her leaving if action is not swiftly taken. My favorite detail is the two angels designed into the clock to look as if they’re supporting it. This represents that you never truly know what’s happening behind the scenes and there could be much better support than you think. It was also my first time drawing a frame onto a piece but it completes it perfectly. This frame represents how you can be narrow minded and not seeing the full picture.
The original sketch depicts many other clocks floating in the air around the grandfather clock. I fully drew and rendered all of these clocks as well but ultimately decided to remove them from the final artwork because they drew too much attention away from the focus of the piece. As an artist this was a great learning moment as I had to sacrifice hours of my work for the sake of the finished product.
